Royal Field Artillery in action, 1916

Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1916.

A Royal Field Artillery (RFA) gun crew prepare an 18-pounder for firing. The RFA were responsible for the Army's light movable field guns, whereas the Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA) operated heavy artillery and large calibre howitzers that were less mobile.
