Repairing 60-pounders, 22 August 1917
Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1917.
Members of the Royal Artillery work on 60-pound guns at the ordnance workshop near Lovie. By November 1918 the British Army on the Western Front had about 10,000 artillery pieces. These needed regular repair after being damaged in action or required servicing following the wearing out of barrels and other working parts.
From a box of 50 lantern slides.
