Anti-aircraft guns on lorries in action, March 1916
Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1916.
Two Royal Garrison Artillery QF 13-pounder 9 cwt anti-aircraft guns open fire on German planes over Armentieres. At this stage of the war shooting down an enemy aircraft or airship was difficult as the gunners had no way of measuring the target's range, height or speed so setting shell fuzes was problematic.
From a box of 80 lantern slides.
