Holt caterpillar tractor towing an artillery piece, 1917
Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1917.
Manufactured by the Holt Company of California, two models of Holt tractor (the 75 and 120) were adopted by the British Army during the war. By 1916 over 1,000 of these vehicles were in use with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) for the purpose of hauling its heavy artillery.
