Church parade of the King's Regiment (Liverpool), 1900 (c)

Photograph, Boer War (1899-1902), 1900 (c).

In the British Army compulsory church parade dated back to the 17th century and was only abolished in 1946. Prior to that date, religion was officially viewed as a guiding moral force to the Army.
