Shoulder belt plate, officer, 102nd Regiment of Foot, 1808-1816

This Regiment was originally raised as the New South Wales Corps in 1789 to Garrison New South Wales. It was subsequently sent to North America where it saw service during the War of 1812. It was subsequently re-numbered as the 100th Regiment of Foot, before being disbanded in 1818. It was the last British unit to occupy the United States.

This officer's shoulder belt plate was used to secure a leather shoulder belt which would carry a sword.
