Charity flag sold in aid of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA)
The flag was sold in aid of the RSPCA's Fund for Sick And Wounded Horses. This was established in 1914 and eventually raised over £250,000. The money bought the Army Veterinary Corps 13 operating theatres and 16 motor ambulances. The charity also sent waterproof rugs and 50,000 books on lameness and first aid to the front line.
From a collection of 110 paper, cloth and metal flags, cards, ribbons and lapel badges, possibly collected by Charles Henry Tutt and family, 1914-1918.
