Other ranks' puttees, Corps of Royal Engineers, 1915 (c)
During World War One (1914-1918) soldiers wrapped these pieces of khaki woollen fabric around their legs to support their ankles and keep debris and water out of their boots. Some officers and all other ranks wore them.
