Light khaki serge field service side hat, standard type with red crown and peak and silver braid piping. Plain silver plate buttons but no badge present, 1935 (c).

The 12th Frontier Force Regiment was formed in 1922 drawing on elements of the Punjab Irregular Force. It comprised of four regular battalions drawn from Sikh regiments and a fifth regular battalion and a 10th (training) battalion formed from the two infantry battalions of the Corps of Guides. Further battalions were raised during World War Two (1939-1945). In 1945 the unit was renamed the Frontier Force Regiment.
