Silver medal commemorating the capture of Preston, 1715
The medal depicts two captives chained to the base of a pedestal. The Latin inscription translates as 'The fidelity of the Army' and 'The rebels taken at Preston, 13 Nov. 1715'. During the first Jacobite rising of 1715, the Jacobites advanced into England as far as Preston. Here they were met by government troops, who recaptured the town after two days of fighting.
