Other ranks' glengarry badge, 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot, 1874 (c)

This unit's badge depicts a garter inscribed with the regiment's name surmounted by a castle from the central tower of which flies a St George's flag. The castle represents Enniskillen in Northern Ireland which was defended for King William III by a regiment raised by Zacharaiah Tiffin during the Nine Years War (1688-1697) in 1689.
