Cap badge, other ranks, 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards, 1965 (c)

This regiment was formed in 1959 by merging the 1st The King's Dragoon Guards and the 2nd Dragoon Guards. Its badge depicts the double headed Austro-Hungarian imperial eagle. This was inherited from the 1st King's Dragoon Guards. In 1896 Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria was appointed their colonel-in-chief and the regiment was granted permission to adopt his crest as its badge.
