King Cetshwayo's 'coronation' on 1 September 1873

Administrator Theophilus Shepstone sits to the right of the King, shaded by an umbrella, while to the left of Cetshwayo stands Major Anthony Durnford, Royal Engineers, who was killed in action at Isandlwana in January 1879.
