Surgeon General Sir Thomas Longmore, 1875

Sir Thomas Longmore (1816-1895) was Surgeon-General and Professor of Military Surgery at the Army Medical School at Netley. He was a veteran of the Crimean War (1854-1856), serving as Regimental Surgeon with the 19th (The 1st Yorkshire North Riding) Regiment of Foot.

Longmore wrote a number of medical studies including one relating to bone infections caused by gunshot wounds, 'Remarks upon Osteo-myelitis consequent on Gunshot Wounds of the Upper and Lower Extremities, and especially upon the Treatment of Stumps affected with Osteomyelitis after Amputation necessitated by such Injuries'
