Silver medal commemorating the recapture of Carlisle, 1745
The medal is inscribed 'The Rebels Repulsed' and 'Justice triumphant 1745'. It was issued after the Duke of Cumberland's recapture of Carlisle from the Jacobites in December 1745. The city had originally been captured by Prince Charles Edward Stuart the previous month.
