'Brahuis hut, Ziarat', Baluchistan, 1898

A Brahui family in front of a hut at Ziarat, 130 kilometres from Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan. The Brahui are a predominantly Sunni Muslim ethnic group dwelling mostly in Baluchistan, now in Pakistan. At the time of this photograph the Brahui were primarily nomadic herders who lived in tents and temporary camps.

From an album compiled by C A Milward, 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment and 3rd Regiment of Sikh Infantry Punjab Frontier Force, 1897-1903.
