Indian troops moving ammunition down a treacherous slope after a landslide blocked the Tamu Road in Burma, 1944 (c)
Photograph, World War Two, Far East, 1944 (c).
The campaign in Burma was fought over treacherous jungle and mountain terrain. Soldiers also had to endure an appalling climate that played havoc with roads and transport. As a result, a notable feature of the campaign was the use of air transport to move troops and to supply them.
One of 68 photographs collected for the history of 23rd Indian Division.
