Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) .303 inch bolt action rifle No 4 Mk I*, 1945
Manufactured by Long Branch, Ontario, Canada, 1945.
The Short Magazine Lee-Enfield was used by British and Commonwealth forces in two World Wars. Firing a small-calibre bullet to a maximum range of 2,800 yards, it was one of the finest rifles ever designed. The No. 4 Mk I* version was a light, easy to mass produce weapon that was manufactured by the Long Branch Arsenal in Canada (as with this example) and Savage-Stevens Firearms in the United States.
