A wounded African soldier being carried by stretcher bearers on to a motor launch, Burma, 1944 (c)
Photograph, World War Two, Far East, 1944 (c).
Rivers were vital transport arteries in Burma as the rough terrain sometimes made evacuation of the wounded by ambulance difficult. Air evacuation was also a common feature of the campaign.
From an album of 147 photographs, 1944-1945, relating to Brig M W Briggs, the 11th East African Division and the King's African Rifles.
