The askaris depicted include Corporal Lusiasi James with his gun crew, Lance-Corporal Josefe and Private Amosi. All were from the British protectorate of Nyasaland (now Malawi).

From an album of 147 photographs associated with Brigadier M W Briggs and the 11th East African Division.
