New recruits to the 5th Mahratta Light Infantry, 1943 (c)

Volunteers inspect their recently issued uniforms and kit at the regimental depot at Belgaum in the Carnatic. The War saw the expansion of the regiment when 14 new war service battalions were raised alongside the existing five battalions. Most of these were later demobilised after the war.
