Officer's coatee, 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, pattern 1831-1855 (c)
The coatee worn by the Highland regiments differed slightly from those worn by other foot regiments in that the skirts were a little shorter. The skirts of the officer's coatee were decorated with buttons and button loops of gold lace or embroidery with skirt ornaments and a triangle of lace between the two waist buttons.
