Tethering horse hobble, 1915

Rope attached to leather belt with metal fastenings, made by Hampson and Scott Limited, 1915.

This World War One vintage Army issue hobble would have been used to secure the front legs of a horse to restrict its movement during periods of rest or feeding. Tethering horses could also prevent stampedes during artillery barrages.
