Cap comforter, 1942 (c)
Made of wool, the cap comforter could be used as a scarf but when turned partially inside out and fitted on the head it was a useful hat. Although soldiers from many British Army regiments wore cap comforters, particularly during training or when engaged in manual tasks, during World War Two they became especially associated with the Commandos.
