Pattern 1796, Heavy Cavalry officer's dress sword, 1814 (c)
This sword, made by G S Reddell, was intended for dismounted duty where a smaller, lighter arm was more appropriate. Its 'boatshell' hilt has a folded inner guard to prevent chafing the wearer's uniform.
