'The Boer War Prison in the Happy Valley, Ceylon'

The British had made no provision for dealing with prisoners in South Africa so 25,630 out of the 28,000 Boer men captured during the Boer War (1899-1902) were sent overseas to Ceylon, St Helena and India.
