Recruiting poster for the South Lancashire Regiment
Printed by Gale and Polden Limited, 1930 (c).
In times of peace it was difficult to recruit men into the Army on ideological grounds and rare to find those motivated simply by the desire to serve King and country. This recruitment poster therefore focuses on the 'good pay, good food, smart clothing, unlimited sport, generous furlough, free education, free medical and dental treatment and free training in civil trades for selected soldiers'.
