Unloading a 5-inch howitzer from a barge, 1916
Photograph, World War One, Mesopotamia, 1916.
Indian soldiers unload an artillery piece from a barge during the Mesopotamia campaign. Although this weapon was somewhat obsolete, dating from before the Boer War (1899-1902), it remained in service with some Indian units in the Middle East until 1918.
