'Scots Guards', recruiting poster, 1982

Colour photolithograph poster prepared for the Ministry of Defence (Army) by the Central Office of Information. Published by the Ministry of Defence, August 1982.

A recruiting poster showing two privates of the Scots Guards, one in in full dress, the other in combat dress, with the regimental badge behind them.

The poster was published very soon after the end of the Falklands War in 1982. The Scots Guards had participated in the campaign in the South Atlantic and its 2nd Battalion had fought a bitter battle with Argentine forces on Mount Tumbledown. The poster includes the sub-heading, 'Precision and Action', and the text, 'Are you up to the Scots Guards challenge? Are you versatile enough to prepare for Trooping the Colour one day and to sail for the South Atlantic the next? Try a career in Scotland's own Regiment of Foot Guards'.
