Pattern 1803 Light Infantry sword, 82nd Regiment of Foot (Prince of Wales's Volunteers)
The curved blade of this sword was more practical for close combat than the straight blade of the 1796 infantry sword. It was found to be particularly effective for the skirmishing tactics of the more mobile light infantry and grenadiers.
