Made by Siemans Brother and Company Limited.
The box, which is made of steel and painted black, contains a lamp which projects a beam through a convex lens. The beam can be interrupted for signalling by a system of shutters. Inside the box is a wooden spatular which allows the hot lamp to be handled. Each corner has a mount which receive the legs and a large chimney hole is at the back. Underneath there is a circular brass mount which can receive a stand (a Mk V 5-inch Helioscope).
