Captain A F Inglis, 2nd Battalion, 1st Gurkha Rifles, 1911

Portrait of Captain Alexander Francis Inglis wearing shoulder belt plate badge, with boss, chain and whistle.
Inglis was born 16 October 1881. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment) in September 1901, joining the Indian Army in 1902. He served with the 1st King George's Own Gurkha Rifles, becoming a captain in 1910. He was promoted to major in 1916.
