Cap badge, officer, Royal Corps of Transport, 1966 (c)-1984 (c)
Silver plated metal badge in the form of an eight-pointed, rayed star, the topmost point of which is displaced by a monarchial crown. Mounted upon the centre in gilt metal, a laurel wreath within which is the blue enamelled garter bearing the gilt Order of the Garter's motto, 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). Within the voided centre the pierced gilt royal cypher for Queen Elizabeth II, 'EIIR', upon a red enamelled ground. Below the Garter a frosted scroll bearing the burnished Corps title, 'Royal Corps of Transport'. The reverse bears two loop fittings horizontally placed.
Established in 1965, the Royal Corps of Transport was responsible for moving soldiers and materiel across the world. It continued in British Army service until 1993, when it became part of the Royal Logistic Corps.
