Silk escape map owned by John H Money, Special Operations Executive, 1944 (c)
SOE printed their clandestine maps on silk as it was hardier than paper and would not tear or dissolve when wet.
The two map sheets depicted are Sheet 43G: 'Slovakia (South) Poland (South) Hungary (South East) Romania Serbia Bulgaria (N Central and E) Croatia (East) Montenegro (East) Albania (North)', and Sheet 43H: 'Greece Albania Bulgaria (South) Turkey in Europe Turkey in Asia (Western Seaboard) Crete (Right Inset)'.
