A dug-in tank of the 52nd Division near Gengelt, 31 December 1944

Photograph, World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1944.

The tank is a Sherman Firefly which was fitted with a powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun capable of knocking out any German tank. Gangelt was located on the Dutch-German border.
