Photograph, World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1945.
In late December 1944 the 6th Airborne Division was rushed to Belgium in order to help repulse the German offensive in the Ardennes. The fighting took place in freezing conditions and only ended in mid-January 1945 when improved weather finally allowed the Allies to deploy their massive air superiority against the Germans.
