Saddle, 1918 (c)

This pattern of leather saddle dates from the 1870s and became a standard model for British officers for many years. It is stuffed with horsehair to give it more padding. Second Lieutenant H G Barker of the Staffordshire Yeomanry used this saddle during the First World War.
