United Nations brassard, other ranks, 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards, British Forces, Lebabnon, 1983
Cotton cloth brassard, with disruptive pattern material camouflage with United Nations cotton cloth badge and silk Union Flag badge below.
In 1982, Israel invaded Lebanon to destroy Palestinian Liberation Organisation bases, but this exacerbated a growing sectarian conflict in that country. An international peacekeeping force was sent to Beirut, but it increasingly became a target for the various warring factions and was withdrawn in March 1984. The British contingent included soldiers from the Queen's Dragoon Guards and Royal Signals.
