Letter from Major Thomas William Brotherton, 14th (or The Duchess of York's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons, to his wife, 20 July 1812

Postmarked Valladolid and sent during the Peninsular War (1808-1814), Bortherton's letter describes being wounded, having been 'run through the body with a sword' on 18 July. However, he reassures his wife that he is recovering quickly. Despite his wound he was with his regiment during another battle on 22 July (likely the Battle of Salamanca).
