Transcript account of Lieutenant Henry Curtis Gallup's letters, 17 September to 3 December 1915
The account covers part of Gallup's service in Mesopotamia with 1/5th Hampshire Howitzer Battery and commences at Amarah where life was peaceful and the troops engaged in duck-shooting. However, by 25 September he was marching further on to Kut-al-Amarah. Gallup took part in the Battle of Ctesiphon on 23 November and after much fighting joined the retreat back to Kut, where he was confined to a Field Ambulance for a few days for 'chronic tummy ache'.
