Proclamation issued by Charles I from Oxford, 1642-1643
This proclamation refers to the violence and pillage of the Parliamentarians in Oxfordshire, where they had taken horses for their dragoons. The King implores his subjects to provide him with horses, saddles, and bridles and other stores and bring them to the 'sign of the Katherine Wheel' in Oxford, where they were to be delivered to the Waggon-Master General Winter Graunt. Graunt held this position between October 1642 and November 1643.
