Pattern 1876 Martini-Henry socket bayonet

This could be fitted to the Martini-Henry Rifle for use as a stabbing weapon. It was known by soldiers as 'the lunger' because of its long length. Bayonets like this were used in the hand-to-hand fighting at the Battle of Rorke's Drift during the Zulu War (1879).
