Pattern 1803 East India Company Officer's sword owned by Major-General Edward Broughton, 1803 (c)
The sword could have been worn by Broughton from 1803 onwards, it is the standard pattern officer's sword of the time with royal cypher on the hilt. Engraved on the blade is the East India Company lion crest and as there is no maker's name it seems probable that the sword was made in India to the British pattern.
