Unidentified officer, probably of the 14th Madras Native Infantry, 1809
Miniature watercolour on ivory by John Smart Junior.
This miniature, one of the last produced by the younger Smart, depicts an officer of the 14th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry. The distinctive embroidery on the epualette strap, together with the grouping of buttons in threes should be noted.
