Allied safe conduct leaflet employed during the campaign in Burma, 1944 (c)
The British and Americans dropped a host of surrender leaflets on the Japanese Army in Burma but they had relatively little success in persuading soldiers to give themselves up. The Japanese believed surrender was dishonourable so many of them preferred to fight to the death.
