Military Cross, awarded to Captain Antony Mackenzie-Smith, 100th (Gordon Highlanders) Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, 1945
Silver cross with obverse decorated with imperial crowns and royal cypher for King George VI in the centre, with white and purple ribbon.
The 8th (City of Aberdeen) Battalion Gordon Highlanders converted to an anti-tank artillery regiment in 1941 and were posted to Burma with the 2nd Infantry Division. MacKenzie-Smith won the Military Cross for his actions while commanding a mortar troop of the 100th Anti-Tank Regiment at the Irrawaddy River on 28 January 1945.
