Gunners from 1st Medium Regiment, Indian Artillery, next to their guns, February 1946

The unit was armed with breech loading 5.5 inch Medium Field Guns. This weapon required a crew of nine men and had an effective range of around 14 kilometres when firing a high explosive shell. The 5.5 inch gun saw service in Burma with several Indian Army artillery units.
