A Medical Orderly of the 4th (Uganda) Battalion, The King's African Rifles, attends to a Kenyan villager. During the 1950s the battalion took part in operations against the Mau Mau rebels. Providing medical treatment was one way of winning 'hearts and minds' and gaining useful intelligence.
