On the left, Captain (later Lieutenant Colonel) Michael Charles Cooper Harrison (Distinguished Service Order; Military Cross) (1888-1967), 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment, and on the right, Captain (later Brigadier) Henry Antrobus Cartwright (1887-1957) (Military Cross), 4th Battalion, the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment) (1887-1957). Both officers were taken prisoner in 1914. They mounted multiple escape attempts from camps in Germany, which they recounted in the joint memoir 'Within Four Walls', published in 1930.
