Tea caddy, 1783 (c)

This caddy was made from the wood of the destroyed French and Spanish floating batteries during the Siege of Gibraltar, (1779-1783). It is inscribed to Major Charles Vallotton, 56th Regiment of Foot, an aide-de-camp to General Augustus Elliot, the Commander of the British forces at Gibraltar.
